Greetings Jose,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

Hello-
I'm currently serving on the local arrangements committee for LOEX 2009, which will be held in Albuquerque, NM. I'm also on the REFORMA de Nuevo Mexico chapter, trying to get it picked up again. I invite you all to inquire within, if I can, and hopefully to see you at a conference in the near future.

Jose, Great to see you on the Teacher Librarian Ning! Thanks too for joining the Information Fluency Project Group.

It's exciting to see that you teach Information literacy online. I do too (for both the 21st Century Information Fluency Project and as part of my e-learning classes at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Seems to me teaching these skills in an online environment is the perfect fit of content & technology!

Great to be your Ning Friend !

Dennis
