Hi Fellow International School TL's-

I am in the thick of scoping out authors to come to our school next February/March 2010 and was hoping to hear from any of you in the EARCOS region that might be interested in some cost sharing. Last year, four schools (Yangon, Shekou, Manila and Taipei) shared author Margriet Ruurs and it proved to be an excellent and cost effective experience for all!

Right now I am considering the following authors:

Margaret Read MacDonald
Sara Holbrook
David Greenberg
David Schwartz

If anyone is interested in discussing this further with me I would love to hear from you-

Cheers-

Hi Michelle,

Did you ever decide on someone? David Greenberg visited ASB (Bombay) while I was there, and last year David Schwartz visited ISB (Beijing).

This year for our elementary we are going with a story teller, Tanya Batt. I hear she's fantastic. http://www.imagined-worlds.net/ We also will have Julia Golding for the middle school students and she'll visit our upper elementary school.

I hope you were able to get someone.

Cheers;D

Ann
Hi Ann-

I just sent you a friend invite so that I can send a personal message to you outside of this discussion board. I have some questions about Tanya Batt's visit to your school.

Hi Ann-

Thanks for your reply. I am in the early stages of starting a conversation with Kristin Joy Pratt Serafini- an author/illustrator who does ecology themes (rainforest, oceans, deserts). I'm a bit hesitant however since I haven't heard any testimonials as to how she does at international schools.

We had David Schwartz last year- it was a great MATH extravaganza and he was very good with the mid-age kids (Grades 2-5).

Tanya Batt looks like a lot of fun- I would love to do a storytelling author festival at some point in the future. I look forward to hearing how it goes.

If anyone else that is put there is interested in hearing more about Kristin Pratt-Serafini I'd like to hear from you!

Enjoy the start of a new year!

Hi,
We had Tanya Batt visit us in Tokyo and she was wonderful. We also had another fabulous storyteller and musician - Courtney Campbell. The kids absolutely loved her. She also does workshops for parents and teachers on storytelling.
You can get more information on her from her website:
