I am returning to elementary media after 7 years at secondary level...and everything has changed!  Now I have to infuse technology, and I have no part in the checkout-book selection process with my students---a clerk handles all that.  I want to maintain a connection to reading and books and need ideas for linking books to tech projects for gr. 3-5 (it's a lot easier for K-2!).  I've found some media specialists' projects online and they have been very helpful.  Anyone have suggestions or a list or descriptions to the projects you do?

How about a video book report, or try voki, its free, and its a cool way to create an avatar.  You can have the avatar do all the talking and they can type the report, or you can actually have them record their voices.  I only teach k-2 and wis I had 3-5.  There is sooo much you can do with them maturity wise that you can't with k-2

Good idea!  I don't know how our computers will handle video---but will look into that! Thanks.
I use VoiceThread with grades 3 and up every week for the Book of the Week. A kid signs up a week in advance, and I put the book cover in there. Then when it's the kid's turn, he or she BRIEFLY booktalks the book, and then the kids have a whole bunch of recommendations available to them when they check out books.
