Best children's - Eggs by Jerry Spinelli. Jerry writes with great sensitivity about a boy who loses his mother and lives with his grandmother.

Best YA - Copper Sun by Susan Draper. A girl's story of being taken from Africa to America to become a slave.

Best Adult fiction - Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Everyone can find someone they know in each of the characters. A Baptist minister takes his wife and children to the Congo in the late fifties.

Best Adult Nonfiction - Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Eat in Italy; Pray in India; Love in Indonesia.

Best Guilty Pleasure - Good in Bed by Susan Weiner. It's not about what you would think! The book is about a woman's struggle with body image (and a few other things).

I am impressed by the number of responses to this discussion. Great way to hear about books people enjoy. I was definitely effected by how different everyones opinions are. Makes me concerned about meeting all my library patrons reading needs.
