I just started as a 0.5FTE TL three days ago and one of my first priorities is to create a virtual library. I've looked at some that have been created using a blog (TypePad), others using a wiki. Our school board is keen on using Dotnetnuke.

I'm starting from scratch and would love to hear about others experience with any of these formats. Also, can anyone point me to a good planning tool for conceptualizing the site. Help!!

By virtual library do you mean library webpage?

If so, I recommend using Google Sites. I recently made a page there for my school library and it was extremely user-friendly, it took me about an hour to get a basic few pages made, and then I've been going back in and editing/adding more over the past few weeks.

I don't have a lot of ideas for planning tools.......I just spent some time looking at LOTS of other school library sites [including ones from school districts near me] and made a list of what I thought we needed on OUR page. :)

Also, you'll see on my homepage that I have started a blog as well. That way I can keep students/teachers/parents informed of things such as new books/events/etc without editing my webpage too often.

What is the Book Glutton, I am all ears?!
It's a site where you can read books online - and its free! I think you can also download them. It's similar to Project Gutenberg only I personally think it's a little more attractive and easy to use. :)
