Does anyone have a facebook page for their high school library?

What challenges did you face? How did you sell it to your administration?

Thanks!

We have one for our high school. In fact right now I'm running a contest to get students to "become a fan" by October 15.
3 names will be drawn at random to win gift certificates to Borders, iTunes and Starbucks. My administration is completely on board with it. We do have a school-wide policy that social networking sites are not allowed to be checked in school so joining our page needs to happen outside of school hours. I'm happy with the results and it is a way to reach high school students with library-related news. You're welcome to check out our page. We're Caravel Academy Library.
That looks great! I really want to do this, and having examples is really helpful. Thank you.
Suzanne:
Can you post a link to your facebook page. I am thinking about creating one for my library.
Thanks.
Suzanne,
Can you tell us more about the contest you had?
Thanks!
I have one too. It's at www.facebook.com/troylibrary Haven't yet introduced it yet to our students or admin....
Our library has a Facebook page, and Facebook is not blocked at school. You can see our page here I love the idea of the drawing for gift certificates. We currently have 126 fans and are looking for more.
In a middle school it would be really fun to put up author links--some of the authors have really fun pages. Enjoy.
Awesome page, Susan! I just became a fan!

I sure hope you are coming to the CSLA conference Nov. 19-22! I'm helping plan it and I'm in charge of the wiki: http://csla2009.wikispaces.com We would love to have you down in Ontario! We need techy people like you there!
And we've got a FB Group for CSLA conference: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=133760230330
Thanks Milena, My assistant Anne does most of the Facebook postings. Between holidays, authors and links related to school events it's not hard too hard to find items to post.
I'm in the midst of setting up a page for our library and am looking for a good how-to article or blog post about decoding the whole Facebook settings universe. How do you keep all your actions from showing up on your wall? I just want the substantive actions to show up -- not the information that we've edited something trivial.
I have recently set up a FB page for my library.
It's http://www.facebook.com/pages/Elk-Lake-High-School-Library/33356793...
I mentioned it to my principal & he liked the idea. Facebook is blocked at my school so I do everything from home. I try to post a few times a week and I'm still working on getting students to join.
