Greetings Anne,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

I don't WANT to have a trying time doing anything!! lol...already too much stress in my life.
When I went to my local lib I asked the ref desk about poetry books, recent 2007-8 and she just went thru her list and printed out a nice sheet and then I just went to the children's section and got 4 really good ones I think. I can't remember all the titles, but one of them is by Alice Walker. It will be interesting to see where Christie takes us with this project.

Hi Anne,
How's tricks? Are you overly busy today getting everything ready for school? I know I am and yet yearn to be outside! Have you found some good poetry books?
Well.....see you soon...JJ

Thanks for the tip about bloglines. I will check that out. I don't know why this blog wouldn't work there, but perhaps because it's on ning, it's exclusive to this site? That's just a guess . . . I'm really a novice at this. Perhaps you could ask someone at ning?
