Hi all,

I'm gathering my info to register for NECC in Washington DC this year from June 28 - July 1.
Is anyone else going??

I will be by myself so this will be a neat place to "introduce" ourselves in advance.
Hope to see you there!

Susan

Susan, If i can help you figure out your NECC trip let me know. I manage the ISTEConnects blog where you will find lots of info about NECC and all things ed tech. I also created a NECC 2009 Roommates Group on the NECC. If you have any questions about NECC you can drop me a message here or on twitter @isteconnects. Hope you make it!

...hard to avoid it since it's practically in our backyard! and i'm so excited for the first time i'm going on someone else's dime....the Md. Digital Libraries grant is sending me..Whoo hooo!

Yes please Gwyneth! I'd love to hear your suggestions. Susan
Great Places to Eat & Drink Near NECC!

Oyamel, a Mexican restaurant in Penn Quarter, has an hora feliz (Spanish for happy hour) from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday. You can get $4 classic margaritas, ponche and selected draft beer. If you get hungry, try the $4 taco specials.

here's the YELP on it!

Vegetate, a vegetarian restaurant near the convention center, has happy hour Wednesday to Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. with drink and food specials. On Tuesdays, happy hour lasts until 9:30 p.m.

Web sites that list deals include Restaurant.com, DailyCandy.com and DCFoodies.com.

here's the YELP Reviews (Btw, there's a YELP in your town, too! review & be heard!)
as Ken P writes:
"OK, so I hate knock offs and this is a knock off of the original in NY.

But, I also own a few, and like my "omega" watch, a good knock off is hard to pass up.

The atmosphere is a bit stuffy (-1) but other wise, the food, the service dead on. Highlight, pomegranate margarita and fresh guacamole.

And just like a good knock off, she aint cheap, but I think worth it..."
Hi Susan,

Yes I will be attending NECC for the first time. I am a private school librarian from Honolulu, Hawaii. I will also be there by myself. I am interested in web 2.0 tools. . Thanks Joseph, I will check out your blog. Aloha, clarissa
Yes - I just got my registration in this week! I have never been to NECC in person before - but have avidly followed the back-channels for the last couple of years.
I'll be traveling with our district's technology integration specialist and our director for Educational Technology.

I am looking forward to great sessions - and meeting some of you there! -Nancy
I'll be there. Please make sure you come to our TeacherLibrarian Tech Tools Smackdown. Lots of us will be there. You'll love NECC.

joyce
Ooooh! that sounds fun, Joyce...can you give us the details on this Smackdown? the who, what, when & where? ... already can guess the why! LOL
Hi Susan,

I'm travelling from Australia to attend NECC. My family are coming with me and we are spending time in LA and New York. They are leaving from New York and I'm continuing down to Virginia and then onto Washington. Hopefully I'll be able to meet up with you and other librarians there.
I will be there! Looking forward to DC --i"ll attend the EdubloggerCon the Saturday before as well.
Just posted in my blog http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/blog/1340000334/post/330044633....
Ningers, let's try to meet up at some of these sessions.
Yes!!!! I am finally going after years of schedule conflicts with ALA!
Susan, you will love it and you will not be alone for long! Definitely attend the SIGMS meeting to meet more library media specialists. If you have time, visit the Smithsonian with all those wonderful museums!
