At BookExpo America, they announced this year's Quill nominees. It's the third year for these consumer-driven awards. The last two lists helped me plan my summer reading and helped me to discover new authors and titles to include on our high school shelves. Scroll down to the bottom of the list for youth titles.

SEOmoz’s new Web 2.0 Awards were announced yesterday. Last year’s list led me to tools that became a regular part of my life online. There’s lots to explore. Some are already favorites. Some look like great fodder for pathfinders. Others present some cool potential for incorporating in learning activities.

Just wanted to share our very easy end-of-year display case idea. Our seniors look forward to this all year.
We put out boxes of index cards and art supplies. Each senior decorates a card with his or her plans for next year. They go crazy competing to create the very best index cards--school colors, mascots, all sorts of images. We cluster them. (For instance, all the Penn State cards go together. All the military cards go together.) This year we photocopied their 9th grade pics from t…

Wonderful Ning! I hope that you will be at either ALA in California or NECC in TX this year. Will you be presenting at either?
I've started a discussion about your idea for using IGoogle over in the forums. Would love to have you describe exemplars of what good work looks like. I started doing this during teen tech week, and now I'm ready to roll! Thanks for your help!

Sounds good. I use GoggleTalk rather than Skype but I should be able to connect with you. I am on the West Coast of Canada so we have a three hour time difference. There is no rush so when you have the time send me some times to contact you and I will make the arrangements.
Thank you,
Richard
I am the editor of School Libraries in Canada (SLIC) and I would like the membership of CASL to join the TeacherLibrarianNetwork and form a group like the teacher librarians of Colorado.
I would like to add an article on the Teacher Librarian Ning in the next issue of SLIC. I can write the article myself but since the success of this network is based on your efforts I would like to offer you the opportunity to be the writer for this article. You have earned it. I realize that you are very busy with writing for other journals and conference presentations but I would appreciate it if you could do this for CASL.
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

you don't know me. i'm a first-year teacher-librarian in san francisco unified. while i was wandering around the internet this weekend looking for ways to be a better librarian,i stumbled onto your ning. i didn't really know what a ning was, and i didn't really know who you were, but i'd heard of both, and mostly you. (my master teacher thinks very highly of you and just last week shared with me some of your handouts for a collaborative project i'm working on.) anyway, your ning was just what i was looking for! i invited all of my colleagues, classmates, and even college instructors from library school to join tln. many have, and i hope more will. i was so inspired by tln that i made my own ning this weekend and plan to roll it out to my students tomorrow! but here's the weird thing...although my own ning shows up on my account, yours still isn't listed as a network i belong to. granted i only joined it two days ago, but still. i want to make sure i'm wearing my tln badge with pride! =) perhaps you've encountered this glitch before. your assistance is appreciated. it's a pleasure to introduce myself to you. i hope to make your acquaintance one day i.r.l. =) smiles, anna koval =)
We're starting to grow... now it's just a matter of adding kindling to the flame.
Thanks for your help on this!
Dennis
