Regarding Kelly's recommendation below for Into the Book (http://reading.ecb.org/
), I know a second grade teacher at my school uses it with great results. But I previously taught fourth, and some resources even work for that age group.

I've only delved into the kids' portion so far, but I'm amazed!!! I'm thinking this will be the perfect thing for my small reading groups--definitely 2nd grade, possibly 3rd. Some years I've had incredibly high 1st that could handle it, too.

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a children's book author (Dutton and Sterling) who eats, sleeps and BREATHS children's books. I'm also the proud aunt of a newly minted librarian, (soon to be children's librarian). I hope to learn more from all of you and perhaps contribute activity suggestions. I adore inventing fun learning activities for students.

I think that question is a valuable one and would be interested in knowing what hat I need to start wearing now! However, I'm more concerned with what to do with the preschool groups. Also, is anyone planning anything special for students who are more than just reluctant to read? Aside from keeping collections that will appeal to the 'non-reader' how are you going to welcome this group? My libraries are pre-k through 12

What are you doing to address the new AASL standards and gudielines? How would you describe what an elementary LMC should be or look like? Are you using social networking as a tool?

For the 2009-2010 school year High Desert Productions recommends booking six months prior to your desired date. Our busiest time of the year is from January-May. Therefore been the first semester of the traditional school year more flexible. We are also available to present our workshops during the summer months to year around schools, libraries’ settings and summer programs within the 50 states. Our workshops can be done in a bilingual format, english and spanish. We are equipped to offer our workshops in a classroom setting as well as an assembly setting.

Then you must know my classmate, Patty Sweeney. We went to Marywood together. Formerly, I was in Susquehanna County, PA at Blue Ridge Elementary. I moved to the Pocono Mountain School District in January. Welcome.
